Hugin Panorama Creator makes it easy.

Panoramas are large photos made by stitching together many smaller photos.

 Hugin is a great tool to use to generate panoramas

Take a set of pictures

Just run the program and follow the steps… 1 2 3

Follow the steps

Once you click on 2,

Then you get a preview.  update once you are finished adjusting the preview.
Click on 2 again,  (it will say to do this.)

Finally you get the result:

There may be a need to manually align points on images if the images are not aligned well enough.  You may even have to delete a few photos.  Try to get a lot of overlap between pictures you are taking to allow the program the best chance of finding matches in the pictures.
