The Geometric Electron
Note: We are not claiming to have solved quantum electrodynamics. We are exploring a perspective. We are trying to tease out the fact that it is not the particle that changes, but its spacetime relationship, and how the charge interacts with that modified experience.
1. The Problem with "Energy"
We usually think of energy as a substance packed into an electron. If we accelerate an electron to 100 GeV, we imagine we have stuffed "100 GeV of stuff" into it. But the electron's invariant mass ($m_e$) never changes. It is always 0.511 MeV.
What if energy is just Geometry?
Imagine the electron's total existence is a vector of constant length (its mass). "Acceleration" is simply rotating that vector in spacetime.
- Rest: Pointing entirely along the Time axis.
- Motion: Rotated to point partly along the Space axis.
The electron is unchanged. Only its geometric angle relative to us has changed.
2. Bremsstrahlung: The "Braking" Radiation
When a high-speed electron passes a nucleus, it decelerates and emits a photon (X-ray or Gamma ray). Standard physics says the electron "lost kinetic energy."
Our Exploratory View: The electron had a specific geometric tilt (momentum). The nucleus forced that tilt to change (rotation). The "difference in angle" cannot just vanish. It must propagate.
The photon is the difference in geometric angle. It is the "part of the electron" that tried to keep going in the old direction.
3. The "Forward Beaming" Insight
In the simulation above, notice what happens at high speeds versus low speeds.
- Low Speed: The electron turns easily. The photon (yellow) is emitted somewhat broadly.
- High Speed: The electron fights to turn. The photon is emitted straight forward.
This is a real physical phenomenon called Relativistic Beaming. In our view, this confirms that the photon is the "Geometric Memory" of the electron's path.
The electron's worldline was pointing forward. It was forced to rotate. The "Forward-ness" (momentum) that was shed becomes the photon. The photon goes forward because that is where the electron's geometry was pointing.
4. The Charge is the Anchor
Why does this happen? The electron isn't braking itself. It is interacting with the Nucleus (another charge).
The electron carries a charge ($-e$). This charge is invariant—it doesn't change. But the charge acts as an Anchor Point or a coupling mechanism between the particle and the Electromagnetic Field.
When the electron moves through the field of the nucleus:
- The Spacetime Geometry around the electron changes (it curves/accelerates).
- The Charge is now sitting in a modified spacetime experience.
- The Electromagnetic Field, anchored to the charge, must rearrange itself to match this new geometry.
- That rearrangement propagates outward as a Photon.
The photon doesn't come from the electron. It comes from the interaction between the charge and the changing spacetime geometry.
Conclusion (for now): The electron is innocent. It remains unchanged ($m_e$). It is simply the location where charge exists. The "Energy" radiated away is just the re-balancing of the field geometry as the charge is dragged through a changing spacetime path.
