The Universal Chart

J. Rogers, SE Ohio

Dr. Mara Li leaned over the alien console, her pulse racing. The first signals from the extraterrestrial vessel had been… overwhelming. Not hostile—just impossibly complex. Patterns of energy and sensory readings that seemed nonsensical. Some of the sensors measured things she had no names for: fluxes of strange “flavors” of electromagnetic resonance, pulses that looked like multi-dimensional oscillations.

Her team had prepared for this moment for decades, armed not with weapons, but with the Planck-Rogers Unit Protocol—a universal translation method that promised to turn any alien measurement system into something comprehensible.

The console pulsed. Symbols streamed across the interface: Ψ1=0.432Θ7\Psi_1 = 0.432 \Theta^7 … what did that even mean?

Dr. Li activated the Protocol. Step one: map the alien dimensionless counts to the Planck scale. Step two: apply the Jacobian transformations to convert these counts to SI units. Step three: verify the results against known constants.

The screen blinked, calculations racing. And then: the data stabilized.

Where before there had been chaos, now there was clarity. Alien energy levels became measurable in joules. Mass-like quantities converted seamlessly to kilograms. Their “charge” equivalents, once utterly alien, now mapped to the same geometric scaling as our electrons. Even their peculiar temporal pulses became frequencies we could interpret.

“Look,” Dr. Li whispered. “It’s… compatible.”

Her colleague, Dr. Hasan, shook his head in disbelief. “It’s like they were speaking physics in a different language. And we just… translated it.”

But it was more than translation. The Protocol had revealed something profound: despite the alien senses and their perceptions of reality being wildly different from human senses, they lived in the same universe as humans and their physics obeyed the same underlying geometry. The discrete counts of their “particles” and the continuous flow of their “space” aligned perfectly with our Planck-based measurements. Invariant truths stretched across the cosmos.

The alien ship vibrated a signal: a simple pulse pattern. Using the Protocol, it became a message in SI units: We are here. We understand. Do you?

Dr. Li smiled. “Yes. Yes, we do.”

And for the first time, humanity realized that physics was not only human—it was universal. A lingua franca, encoded in the simple natural ratios of nature itself, capable of connecting minds across star systems.
