Notebook Entry: The Keystone
The keystone was not the sign flip. It was earlier.
in is unary. One body, one response. is bilinear. Two bodies, one relation.
They are not the same kind of thing. Setting them equal was never earned.
And they don't actually equal. Cancel and you get two different accelerations:
, and
So in the strict sense. The equality only holds if you cancel a mass against itself and call the leftover a force.
What's left after the cancel is not a force, it is just an acceleration. It's each body's response to the other's depth. The steepness at that locus.
Once you see that, force dissolves. Not reinterpreted — dissolved. It was the middleman between a slope and a rate of change. It never did any work. It only balanced the units.
Everything downstream fell out of this: mass as depth measure, constants as Jacobians, time as rate, the invariant as the shape's local behavior.
The category theory gave me , but was formal. It had no physical meaning. This is where it got one. The terminal object is the shape because the force equation shows you what the substrate must be.
And you can't have a hillside without a hill.
That was the joint. Everything after was just the structure locking.
