Income-based fines.

Income-based fines, also known as "day fines," are an innovative and equitable way to ensure that penalties are proportionate to an individual's financial situation.

By tying fines to a person's daily, weekly, or monthly income, we can create a system that is more just and less likely to perpetuate economic inequality. For example, a $500 speeding ticket might be devastating for a low-income individual, but merely a minor inconvenience for someone with a high income.

Implementing income-based fines for all sorts of legal violations, including gag order violations, could help level the playing field and make the justice system more equitable for everyone. Additionally, it could also serve as a more effective deterrent for wealthy individuals who might otherwise view fixed fines as simply the cost of doing business.

Several countries, such as Finland and Sweden, have already implemented income-based fine systems with positive results, demonstrating that this approach can indeed work in practice.
